What a cracking day it was at Romford and Gidea Park RFC for the Ravens yesterday.
Southwold travelled down for the windy match, and for the first 20 minutes they had great control of the game. Getting up within their 5 metre line, they had a sniff of the try line, however the Ravens managed to hold them up and stop them scoring.
The Ravens then started to turn it around. A breakaway try from the backs opened the scoring. And it wasn’t long before they started to find space again. With a third try from Sue Douglas at the end of the first half the Ravens headed into the second with much more confidence. The second-half began with a huge deluge of tries from the Ravens. They began to work really well together as a team, playing to their strengths. Another four tries were scored one after the other, securing the Ravens’ bonus point victory. However, the away team didn’t make it easy for them and kept fighting to the very end to score their only try in the last 10 minutes of the game. It was a great match and the Ravens held their own with fantastic defence and magnificent attack.
Try scorers were; Jemma Bello x3, Jenny Mugglestone, Sue Douglas, Amy Wakerley
Rosie Cocker added 4 conversions.
Back of the match this week went to Jemma Bello with her amazing hat-trick and her reactions in open play.
Forward of the match this week went to Georgina Cox for changing position as needed and being a great leader for the forwards.
Big thank you to Southwold for coming down we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
Big thank yous go to John, Clarkey, Fran, Emily, Kayleigh, Jen, Gina, Enzo, Mummy Muggy and everyone who came to support.
