The 2nd team started 2022 with a trip to Stanford who we drew with 17-17 at home earlier in the season. The new kit didn’t stay clean for long as the weather dictated a tight game.

The centre partnership of James McVelia and Charlie Reaside was causing Stanford some problems early on with strong running liens creating space for the other. Unfortunately, James then had to go off with an injury. Tries came from returning scrum half Andy Causer and captain Toby Proctor with another returning player Adam Choudhury impressively slotting both conversions.

A tight game came down to the smallest of margins with Stanford scoring one of their tries from a charge down of a box kick near Romford’s line. A final score of 17-14 reflected the closeness between two evenly matched teams.

It was great to have players returning from injury and come through unscathed ready to build for 2022.
