It was great to have a debut for Michael Alake on the wing and see Dwayne, Jack and Dave Harrison return from injuries, particularly great to see Dave back after such a lengthy lay off.
The efforts of the front row of Ben Walton, Lee Hughes and Shaun 'The Daddy' Cox gave a strong platform in the scrum allow the back five of our pack to make some great carries getting us go forward. Captain Toby Proctor and his young apprentice Harry McVelia numerously breaking the line and presenting the ball well. The support lines were there and the runners willing, however, more offloads went to ground than to hands leaving points out on the paddock.
There was some great defence against a young and pacey Wanstead back line, Afolobi, Michael and Lewis making some smart man and ball tackles to kill overlaps or momentum.
Danny Priest could be seen marshalling the pack round the corner throughout the game, keeping us playing to our strengths as the final whistle approached and the introduction of Connor O'Sullivan at half time helped make sure we played our game and stayed ahead.
